The ice skating rink was constructed on the former site of a rubber-ball baseball field, fulfilling a long-cherished wish of the Japan Skating Federation, and opened under the name Ice Palace. The organization of an ice show marked the beginning of the Company’s business of self-promoted events (without facilities rentals).

To enjoy skating year-round

Korakuen Roller Skating Rink was opened Japan’s first indoor skating rink which can be used year-round. It helped roller skating gain popularity as a casual sport which, unlike ice skating, can be enjoyed in all four seasons.

Featuring Japan’s first jet coaster

Korakuen Amusement Park was created as Japan’s first urban mechanized amusement park. The opening featured the nation’s first jet coaster, with a three-dimensional mechanized design. The thrilling and fast ride was popular with both children and adults, and the Amusement Park was a major turning point in developing the Suidobashi district as a central city leisure zone.
