Ignites the bowling boomWhen the Korakuen Bowling Center opened with 62 lanes, the automatic pin-setters were the first in all Japan and still very rare in the United States. The opening was the launch of bowling as a popular sport, and laid the foundations for the subsequent bowling boom. |
First step into the hotel businessThe Atami Korakuen Hotel, a resort-type amusement park, and a large rest center for customers taking day-trips were constructed on the Atami Coast. This was the Company’s third venture in the resort business following a ski resort in the Joetsu region and an ice skating rink in Hakone. The hotel included a bowling alley, as bowling was then enjoying a popular boom. |
