Extension of outfield grandstand and
new all-electric scoreboard
The outfield grandstand was extended on both sides adding 10,000 more seats, and an all-electric scoreboard was installed to make baseball fans’ experience more enjoyable. The scoreboard included a mammoth television screen to show animated films following home runs, etc.

Genre still wildly popular
This show featured live performances by the popular TV hero “Masked Rider” on the Korakuen Amusement Park Outdoor Stage. The show is still continuing as the Super Sentai Series, which has been popular among children for decades.

Company advances into
the distribution business
The first outlet of the Shop-In chain, which sells imported variety goods for young women, was opened in the Korakuen Ad Hoc Shinjuku building. Shop-In has since grown to become the core of the Company’s Retail Segment.

The birth of the leisure complex
The Yellow Building was created as an ultra-modern leisure complex offering a bowling alley, ice skating rink, game center, shopping corner, restaurants, and outdoor off track betting for horse races under a novel urban-planning approach.

The “beautiful ocean in the city”
becomes the symbol of Korakuen in summer
For the effective of use of idle facilities at the Korakuen Bicycle Racetrack after Tokyo Prefecture abolished bicycle racing, the Company constructed a 400-m-long elliptical pool inside the racetrack. This offered many people a place to cool off and relax in the heart of the city during the summer. Outside of the swimming season, the location was used as a golf practice field.

Japan’s First Artificial Turf Baseball Field
Boosts Operating Income
The Company installed Japan’s first artificial turf baseball field with approval from professional and amateur baseball circles. The field covered an area of around 11,000-m2 and the construction expenses totaled about ¥300 million. The new turf eliminated irregular bounces and led to a faster pace of play. Baseball income rose higher than ever before.
